Columbus, the explorer that discovered America while looking for India, needs no introduction. The slot focuses on the life of this explorer and on his travels and overall does a pretty good job. The brown abstract background that is used in the logo area is also found in the betting section, with the white reels being in the middle and having a black background behind them. The symbols are well designed and give us a variety of images from those times, but also a number of card icons. The symbols include the Queen, Columbus, jewelry, a sextant and the three ships that were part of the original expedition.
Bets placed in this slot allow for a maximum of $10 to be used for each line, with the minimum being $0.05. The player decides how many lines he wants to be on, but if he selects all of them he can use up to $90. Columbus gives a top jackpot of 5000 coins away, and if the line bet was at maximum that means up to $50,000.
The Columbus symbol acts as the trigger for the top jackpot of the game. If there are five Columbus symbols on the same active line the player wins the top jackpot. With four symbols Columbus still awards a decent payout, of 1000 coins. The same 1000 coins are offered by a five symbol combination with all positions occupied by the Queen.
The card symbols require at least three symbols in order to award a payout, but the four themed symbols give prizes starting from two symbols on a payline (and in order starting from the left).
The three ships of the original expedition have been used as the scatters of this game, and their image appears to be taken from different positions. If the player gets the three required symbols on the reels, in any position, he gets a round of 10 free spins that will start as soon as the round ends.
